In 1873, the statutory law was changed,
abolishing the ten owners rule, and instead
requiring that all of the owners be listed in a
‘Memorial of Title’ on the back of the Court
certificate (Native Land Act 1873, s 47). This was
probably an improvement on the ten owners
rule.
