Annual general meetings The trustees are required to hold an annual general meeting (AGM). However, if AGMs will not be practical or possible (for example, for a small family urupā), the MLC can be asked to approve less frequent meetings, such as one meeting every two, three or five years.

In Utuhina, it is the beneficiaries who make that choice. The whānau trust AGMs follow the ahu whenua trust AGM i.e. they choose their representative away from the ahu whenua trust meeting, after hearing how it is being administered.
If there is no quorum, the trustees may meet, but no decisions are effective until ratified by a majority of trustees at their next meeting. 3.20 At general meetings, four trustees and six beneficiaries must be present to have a quorum.

Where there are more than three trustees, a quorum 12 is at least half of this total. Where there are only two trustees, both are required for the purpose of establishing a quorum.

Management is not providing shareholders with accurate and timely reports, e.g. AGMs are not being held. The judge may also order any person to provide copies of records, reports, and reasons for decisions related to the incorporation, and to assist the examining officers with their review.
