Setting up an incorporation
Previously, landowners seeking to form an incorporation
need to show that owners with not less than 15 percent of
shares in the Māori land consented to the proposal.
Now, landowners seeking to form an incorporation need to
show there is a sufficient degree of support for the proposal,
and that sufficient notice of the proposal has been given.

COPY FEES
Please note: The Māori Land Court Fees
Regulations 2013 set the following fees for copying
records (regardless of whether or not it is supplied
electronically or as a hard copy):
• 20c per black and white page
• 40c per colour page
There is limited discretion to reduce or waive this fee,
however this is considered on a case by case basis
and large requests, or those that require significant
research, may incur a fee.
As I said earlier, one of the major difficulties for Māori owners setting up governance structures and improving the utilisation of land in multiple ownership is the inability to contact or give notice to other owners of proposals for development.
If any other person subsequently becomes a party to the proceedings the lawyer
appointed and engaged must, as soon as reasonably practicable, give an equivalent
notice to the new party.
