It is overseen by a judicial editing komiti, comprised of Māori Land Court judges, supported by legal research counsel from the Māori Land Court. The editing komiti is responsible for reviewing and updating the bench book and it releases updates to the bench book four times a year.

This is also a return to the Court and Tribunal for Judge Milner, who worked early in his career as a Research Counsel for the Māori Land Court and as an Assistant Registrar for the Waitangi Tribunal.
Just to follow on from what I was saying in Maori it really is a great honour and a privilege to be sworn in as a Judge of this honourable Court, alongside such an esteemed bench, in such a revered whare, and in front of so many honourable tohunga, kaumatua, kuia, rangatira, political leaders, senior Counsel, whānaunga and friends. It is a great honour for me but what makes it so special is being able to share it with all of you so thank you.
What can be done, for example, for owners who wish to form governance structures so they can get a lease of their land to utilise it, but have difficulty notifying the owners to inform them of the proposals as required by section 215 of Te Ture Whenua Māori Act?
