Sustainability of the trust
6.2 The Trustees must actively promote and ensure the long-term sustainability and financial
wellbeing of the trust to ensure that it can continue to operate and benefit both the current
and future beneficial owners.
This is the case for the largest
and most successful trusts and incorporations, such as the Tuaropaki Trust and
Mangatu Incorporation, right down to the smallest papakainga trusts.
If you are interested in, or affected by, one of these applications and wish to make submissions or

These rules ensure that the Act’s
kaupapa is met – to promote the retention
of Māori land in the hands of its owners and
their whānau and hapū 4 and to facilitate the
occupation, development, and utilisation of
that land for the benefit of its owners and
their whānau and hapū.
