An exchange of shares in a block must be with a member of the preferred classes of alienees.
Poraka whenua Land block A land block is a piece of Māori freehold land.
Some roles have ‘assessment centres’ instead of interviews. These include a group activity, an interview and a role play.
The idea was that an individual or a whānau could consolidate their shares across a large area and in a large number of blocks with many owners, down into a particular piece of land that they would call their own.
An IRD number had to be obtained. We get a small amount of dividend payments each year and a tax return has to be prepared.
A further complication is that section 338(12) provides that the trustees of a Māori reservation may, with the consent of the Court, grant a lease or occupation licence of a reservation for a term not exceeding 14 years (including any term or terms of renewal).
