1 Name and location

2 Purpose
2.1 This charter is made under the Māori Reservation Regulations 1994 to set out clearly the purpose of the marae
and the role of the marae trustees in managing and running it.

Whānau are discouraged from building papakāinga housing
on marae and other Māori reservations because an occupation
license may only be granted by trustees for up to 14 years,
with no right of renewal.
Full partitions are subject to the Resource Management Act 1991 and follow a consent process, including consent from the local council. Reserve contributions may be required, including:
public access along waterways
reserves for future roading needs, and
recreational purposes.
