No court sitting is required. To apply for a licence of more than 52 years (a long-term license), you’ll need to complete a General Form of Application, and include evidence that at least half of the owners or people who own 50% of the land or 50% of the shares (if the land is vested in an incorporation) have approved the long-term lease .
Trustees: • may not mortgage or sell the land • may grant a lease or occupation licence • must seek the MLC’s consent to any lease or occupation licence.

• Any revenue from the lease or licence must be used as directed by the Māori Land Court.
