Trustees of pūtea trusts don’t have the power to vote. Voting for pūtea trusts is carried out by the owners who contributed shares to the trust.

Conclusion The role of trustees is onerous and frequently thankless. Trustees may be held personally liable, jointly and severally, for any losses a trust may sustain and for other breaches of trust.
This is the case for the largest and most successful trusts and incorporations, such as the Tuaropaki Trust and Mangatu Incorporation, right down to the smallest papakainga trusts.
