We await confirmation of the details and programme for the Government’s review of Te Ture Whenua Māori Act, and so now is not the time for comment from the judiciary.
The MLC operates under the provisions of Te Ture Whenua
Māori Act 1993 (‘the Act’).
Important changes to the rules governing Māori
incorporations were brought about by the Act and the
Māori Incorporations Constitution Regulations 1994 (‘the
Regulations’).
Then lastly, the Court, of its own motion pursuant to section 37(3) of the Act makes a
further order as follows:
Pursuant to section 183(4) of the Act appointing Ropata Taylor and Ihaia Raharuhi as
interim agents for the purposes set out in section 183(6) on behalf of all the owners,
and in particular to negotiate with the Tasman District Council in respect of the council’s
occupation of the land.
He has been a

a specialist Māori law firm.
He acted for clients across the
country on a wide range of
issues affecting whānau, hapū
and iwi.
He has enjoyed a very general law practice as a result of the firms he has been involved with, doing some Criminal work in the District and High Court, and then developing a practice involving Residential and Commercial Property, RelationshipProperty, Trusts, Employment, Commercial, Civil Litigation in the District Court, High Court and Court of Appeal.
