held by that shareholder at the date on
which the certificate is issued.

7 Determine the feasibility of the proposal.
The Act recognises that blocks of Māori land
are generally owned by people connected
to each other and to the land through kin
groups, such as iwi 7 and hapū 8. In order to
preserve the kin groups, the Act restricts
the type of people to whom land can be sold
or gifted.
Section 164 of the Act applies.
