MLC 150 years of the Maori Land Court

On 21 and 23 September 1887, on the application of representatives of Ngāti Tūwharetoa, the Native Land Court partitioned the Tongariro No 1 Block into Tongariro 1A, 1B and 1C, Ruapehu 1 into Ruapehu 1A and 1B, and Ruapehu 2 into Ruapehu 2 into Ruapehu 2A and 2B. The Court was then asked to vest Tongariro 1A and 1B, and Ruapehu 1A and 1B into the name of Horonuku Te Heu Heu ‘for the purpose of conveying the same to the Crown as the gift for a park’.
