Setting aside new urupā A number of well established principles in relation to Māori reservations have been developed by the Court – these principles apply to urupā reservations as much as to marae or papakāinga.
Where land other than Māori land is to be exchanged a full description of that land so as to enable
it to be clearly identified together with particulars of all encumbrances recorded against the land
Where any piece of land to be exchanged is only part of the land comprised in a title, a plan defining
the piece to be exchanged.
Where a determination or order has already been made by a registrar, affected persons may also
apply to the court to seek a review of that determination or order.
