In each case, the opinion of the owners or
shareholders must be taken into account.
The MLC must consider the:
• opinions of the owners or shareholders
• effect of the proposal on the interests of owners or
shareholders of a Māori incorporation5
• best overall use and development of the land.
Recording dividends
There is a new requirement on incorporations to record the
details of dividends paid to shareholders.
The record will include the name of each shareholder who
received a dividend, the amount paid to the shareholder and
the date of each payment.
