This working List is comprised of successors to the 181 original beneficiaries who were allocated land on Rakiura under the ‘SILNA’ scheme.

The Deed of Settlement did not specify a deadline for completion of the identification phase and the work was not prioritised over and above the business as usual work of the Māori Land Court.

As to the staffing of the Māori Land Court registries, depending on the size of the registry some staff will continue to work from home, whereas others should be at full capacity.
Judge Doogan graduated from Massey University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1983 going onto graduate with a Bachelor of Law from the University of Otago in 1986. He commenced work as a Judges’ clerk in Hamilton in 1986 and worked in private practice and in local government in Wellington before moving to England in 1990.
In general, however, we can be satisfied that the work completed has been of assistance to the majority of owners.
