The period covered has been one of change for the Court, with the introduction of the new Pātaka Whenua system to support Court kaimahi, judges and landowners.
It includes:
Court files (the physical and electronic application file that holds all documents and correspondence about a matter in the Court)
Minute books (the physical copy of all conversations and decisions made by the Court)
Court orders (the decisions made by a Registrar or the Court)
Instruments of alienation (the legal tool used to make changes to a land block)
Block order files (the physical record of all dealings and decisions about a land block filed and held by the Court...
To date, the programme delivered business transformation for the Māori Land Court, including legislative changes, a new operating model, and streamlined business processes.
Steve has held multiple roles within the Court, including as a case manager, team leader, district manager, Principal Liaison Officer and Service Manager, before being appointed as the Chief Registrar of the Māori Land Court in February 2021. With changes to the role of the Chief Registrar, Steve is now responsible for exercising statutory powers in accordance with the applicable Act, providing technical advice relating to Court processes and procedures and supporting the staff and manag...
After the court hearing, the judge can confirm, change, or cancel any previous decision.
This may not necessarily be heard by the same judge which made the original decision.
