Updated interim list of owners of the Toitoi SILNA Block Crown Land Block VIII Lords
River Survey District (South Island Landless Natives Act 1906)
The Māori Land Court has released an updated working list of potential owners entitled to
the Toitoi Land (Crown Land Block VIII Lords River Survey District) under Section 15 of
Ngāi Tahu Deed of Settlement 1997.
As an example, in the Taitokerau District of the Māori
Land Court, minute books were maintained for
Auckland, the Bay of Islands, Kaikohe, Kaitaia and
Whangārei as well as for the District Māori Land
Board and for the Bay of Islands Consolidation
scheme.
Heretaunga was
a notorious case, even at the time, and was
widely perceived as a prime example of the
way in which valuable districts were allowed
to pass into the hands of a small group of
private purchasers.
Against this backdrop of a growing volume
of mahi, all districts have been working hard to
progress applications through to final outcomes
for Court users.
For more information,
please contact your local Mäori Land Court office.
Individual districts may mail out separate Pänui where 14
clear days notice is not provided in the National Pänui / Te
Pänui ä Motu.
