WHAT IS THIS FORM FOR?
Use this form to file an application to the Chief Judge of the MāoriLand Court to exercise their power under
section 44 of Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993 to correct a mistake, error or omission on the part of the Court or
in the presentation of the facts of a case to the Court.
In the past the Housing Corporation, and its replacement Housing New Zealand, have been prepared to finance the building of dwellings on Māoriland by taking security over the house, provided that the borrower can obtain a licence to occupy from the owners or trustees, where the land is held in trust, for a term of at least 21 years.
This form should be used to seek Court confirmation of a resolution passed at a property called meeting of
Assembled Owners under section 173 of Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993.
This new initiative provides a visual tool toMāorilandowners and users ofMāorilandto access information to assist in the utilisation and development of their land.
Use this form to create an Ahu Whenua Trust (a land trust) by vesting one or more land blocks in trustees to
manage, as set out in a trust deed/order on behalf of the beneficial owner(s).
They are now recognised as representative ofMāoriowners utilising land for residential purposes in dealings with local authorities and have achieved fairer provision in district plans for the residential development ofMāoriland.
