Claiming money owed to you
You may be entitled to some money generated by a trust or incorporation in which you have an interest or are a shareholder. Some trusts and incorporations also provide financial assistance through grants and scholarships.
Introduction While hearing succession applications I often find myself suggesting to those appearing in front of me to consider forming a whānau trust.

Māori Incorporation Register Māori Land Update
Our Māori Land Update is released annually and provides:
the number of customary and freehold titles of Māori land
the number and types of management structures and the size of the land they are responsible for managing.
It gives an inaccurate impression of
how the Act operates and fails to explain in any reasoned way how the Act inhibits
(or enhances) Māori land owners’ aspirations.
Applications are grouped by District and include the application reference number, the date on which
the application was received by the Court, the subject of the application, the authority under which
the application is made and the applicant(s).
Recording dividends
There is a new requirement on incorporations to record the
details of dividends paid to shareholders.
The record will include the name of each shareholder who
received a dividend, the amount paid to the shareholder and
the date of each payment.
Shareholders in the aggregated list will become shareholders in all land blocks included in the aggregation, so the value of shares in each pre-aggregated block is important.
