By following these rules, we are able to ensure the accuracy of the court record and provide judges and registrars with the information they need tomake informed decisions.
If you are interested in or affected by an application and wish tomake representations on the
application, you must notify the Court in writing by 4pm on 1 January 2023 and specify brief details of your
concerns.
If you think that you have been
adversely affected by this process and wish tomake representations on the application, you must notify the
Court in writing by 4 pm on the 1st October 2022 and specify brief details of your concerns.
This class of records also includes information related tomaking changes to land title through the
sale of Māori land, transfer of shares in Māori land between owners or to new shareholders,
alienation of Māori land by lease or license, including the licensing of timber, flax and mineral
rights.
If you are interested in, or affected by, one of these applications and wish tomake submissions or
provide evidence concerning the application, you must notify the Registrar in writing by 4 pm on the
1st July 2022, providing your name and address, telephone number, and email address (if any), and
setting out your connection to the application and brief details of your concerns.
This practice note applies to the appointment, engagement and payment of the fees of
any lawyer1 per ss 70(3), 98(3) and 98(9)(c) of Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993 (Act) out
of the Māori Land Court Special Aid Fund (Special Aid Fund).
