Having stated all the positive and less positive factors, it seems that we have a situation that makes absolute sense in a cultural context but, which is becoming increasingly difficult in an economic sense.
For it was a place with which I was already familiar, having come from a Maori education background, located in a broader context of university life. It was an oasis of familiarity in an otherwise foreign environment.
