HĀWEA/WĀNAKA SUBSTITUTE SILNA LAND WORKING LIST OF POTENTIAL OWNERS AS AT 23 MAY 2025 The Māori Land Court has released an updated working list of potential owners entitled to the Hāwea/Wānaka Substitute Land (Section 2 of 5 Block XIV Lower Wānaka Survey District) under Section 15 of the Ngāi Tahu Deed of Settlement 1997.

Trustees are appointed by the Māori Land Court under the jurisdiction set out in s 222 of Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993.

Appealing Māori Land Court decisions about access • A person may appeal to the Māori Appellate Court on aquestion of law in relation to a decision of the Māori Land Court made under section 170(1).
Appeals to Māori Appellate Court - in relation to a decision of the Māori Land Court Under section 171 of the Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025, parties may appeal to the Māori Appellate Court on a question of law only in relation to a decision of the Māori Land Court around access to Māori land for water infrastructure.
