And it is not a new
phenomenon. Native Land Court minutes from the late nineteenth and early
twentieth centuries often noted that within a few years of title having been
determined, there were difficulties in engaging with the majority of owners.
It is because of their mahi
that te reo Māori words and phrases have become
normalised in our draft submissions and minutes.
We have continued with our initiatives in the
bilingual space and with the use of te reo Māori
in all of the mahi we produce, whether it be court
directions, emails or our bilingual website and of
course, we are becoming more accustomed to pro-
ducing bilingual decisions, having a total of 5 deci-
sions written in both languages.

a copy of their death certificate or other evidence of death
an original or certified copy of the will
written confirmation from any spouse or partner who wishes to surrender a lifetime right (if applicable)
consents agreeing to include succession by whāngai (if applicable)

The purpose of the National Pänui / Te Pänui ä Motu is
to provide notice to interested parties of hearings being
conducted in, and applications received by, the Mäori Land
Court.
