Te Kooti Whenua Māori has been on a change journey for the past few years. Starting with legislative change in February 2021, the way we process applications in late 2022, and the launch of our online portal, Pātaka Whenua, this year.
These matters could be resolved relatively simply by legislation. To sum up then, we have reached a position where Māori land is no longer being lost into the general land system, or fragmented by partition.

The purpose of the National Pänui / Te Pänui ä Motu is
to provide notice to interested parties of hearings being
conducted in, and applications received by, the Mäori Land
Court.
It is tūrangawaewae – the place where we come from, the place we belong to, the place we stand. Our key purpose is to promote the retention of Māori land in Māori hands, and to support landowners to use, occupy and develop their whenua for the benefit of all landowners, and their whānau and hapū.
