Apply to occupy your land
Raihana ki te noho (utu tāpae $22)
Licence to occupy (filing fee $22)
A licence is a contract between you and other owners (or their representatives, such as trustees) that permits certain activities to occur on all or part of your land. A licence to occupy gives you permission to build on or occupy whenua.
The former Chief Judge continues to be presiding officer of the Waitangi Tribunal over those inquiries that have been already heard or part-heard by him.
Unlocking finance is an important part of facilitating the occupation, development, and utilisation of whenua Māori for the benefit of owners, their whānau, and their hapū and this practice note is another step on the road to realising this vision.
Whenua is part of the identity of tangata whenua. It is tūrangawaewae – the place where we come from, the place we belong to, the place where we can stand.
(f) The mediation (regardless of whether the mediator is appointed by the parties
or the Court) will be held in accordance with the Māori Land Court mediation
process, rules and/or protocols as set out in Part 3A of the Act and by any
specific rules of the Māori Land Court for conducting mediations.

I look forward to us formally welcoming Judge Thomas as she begins her new journey as a part of the Māori Land Court bench. Kua piki te manu ki te rangi, heoi anō tā tātau, te titiro pewhea tōna rere.
HE KUPU WHAKATŪPATO As part of our responsibility to care and protect the court record, and because much of that record is old and sometimes fragile, it is not always possible to view the physical record.
