As a result of the project, registration of 97% of the 27,411 Māori land titles was completed.
In a similar way to how the various Land Title Offices managed the registration of European land interests, district registry offices of the Māori Land Court managed the aggregation of information about title reconstruction and improvement activities differently.

Another real benefit from this project is that it brings Māori land, by virtue of the definition by survey and registration of it, into what is known as the primary layer for lending purposes.
In recent years the Government has spent a considerable amount of money implementing the Māori Freehold Land Registration Project to enable full legal titles to issue for Māori land.

This has largely been the result of additional resourc- ing provided by the Ministry of Justice to address the backlog of applications awaiting registration. Registration has resulted in a significant workload as applications move to pre-court for processing.
