Copies are available from the MLC. Māori reservations are different to Māori reserves. Māori reserves are lands administered by the Māori Trustee under the Māori Reserved Land Act 1955.

Urupa Reservations Urupā reservations (Māori burial grounds) have a special status in legal terms as well as having family, spiritual, cultural and historical importance.
The process to do this is different from other Māori Land Court application processes.

Often this was at the request of the owners, who wanted to have their land split up into smaller sections so it could be better managed for farming, or divided into house sites, marae reserves and so on. Sometimes investigation of title and partitioning were simultaneous processes.

CHAMBERS A formal document describing the rights, aims, or principles of a group of people. Māori Reservations that are set aside as a Marae are required to have a Charter agreed between the trustees and the people for whom the Marae is reserved.

hapū partition can only occur where all the owners involved in the partition are members of the same hapū. consent for hapū partition is not required from the district council, and so a reserve contribution may not be necessary.
