Succession to furtherinterests
If you’ve already submitted your succession application and you discover that there are more Māori land interests to include, you can apply for succession to furtherinterests.
The trustees must keep an interests register that records any interest of the trustees in trust
property or any transaction or proposed transaction with the trust.
Grounds for application:
I am a party to a contract or arrangement relating to the proposed transfer; or
I am the transferor/donor of the land or interest; or
I am a trustee for a person entitled to the land or interest

The Clause relied upon in the Ngāi Tahu Deed of Settlement for this determination is as follows:
“Clause 15.6.2 Manner of Identifying Successors and Their Interest in the SILNA Lands
Te Runanga and the Crown agree that the Crown, through the Minister of Māori Affairs, will request the Māori Land Court, pursuant to
section 29 of the Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993, to identify all of the Successors and their relative beneficial interest in the SILNA Lands

Subsequently, errors have been found in these lists and there is work underway to remedy these before a further list is referred to the Court for approval.
And importantly, the Court process provides a
timely opportunity for successors to discuss and agree to their interests being vested
in a whānau trust, which has the huge advantage of curtailing any further
fragmentation of interests.
Māori incorporations must maintain an interests register to
record for each member of the management committee the
details of their interest in the Māori land incorporated and
their dealings in the interest.
If an owner with Māori Land interests is deceased, and a succession has not previously been dealt with by the Court or a
Registrar, you can use this form to seek a determination from the Court as to those persons entitled to a deceased’s
Māori Land interests and an order transferring the interests to those entitled.
