Starting with legislative change in February 2021, the way we process applications in late 2022, and the launch of our online portal, Pātaka Whenua, this year. Alongside these changes, we face an increase in applications, COVID-19 impacts, and higher-than-normal staff turnover, which has slowed down our response times to enquiries and the processing of your applications.
A large amount of our record is accessible using our online portal, Pātaka Whenua. However, there are some records that are only available for viewing in hard copy at our offices, and some that are too fragile to be viewed at all.
Pātaka Whenua, the Māori Land Court’s new online portal, launched in June 2023. In Pātaka Whenua, landowners can find information about their whenua, search the court record, and apply to the court directly online.
The website is also the gateway to our online portal Pātaka Whenua. In Pātaka Whenua, you can find information about your whenua, search the court record, make an application or enquiry online and pay the application filing fee.
