Since 1965 the court administration also maintained
an internal historical register of applications to the
Chief Judge.
It sets out how Judge Reeves dealt with an application for accretion and for determination of ownership, where ownership records had not been maintained for over 100 years.
A large hui was held in December 2023 in Motueka and in May 2024, Judge Reeves
conducted a site visit followed by a judicial conference at the Collingwood Area School.
Approximately 100 descendants attended – some flying in from overseas.
