Trustees can be removed for a variety of reasons.
A private Māori roadway on Māori freehold land can only become a public roadway if:
there’s enough support from the owners of that roadway for it to become public
the local council has agreed in writing to take over and maintain the roadway, and
compensation between the owners and council has been agreed and paid.
Applications are grouped by District and include the application reference number, the date on which
the application was received by the Court, the subject of the application, the authority under which
the application is made and the applicant(s).
Simple and uncontested successions
Not every successionapplication needs to be heard by a
judge in a court hearing – successionapplications that are
‘simple and uncontested’ can be decided by an MLC registrar
without a hearing.
