The process for applying for succession has not changed. Apply by completing the appropriate application form.

An application form based on the existing form for successions has been modified for the purposes of SILNA determinations, and individual applications are linked to a central file to ensure consistency.
However, many have little or no governance experience and many lack the capability to take on the roles. Training for trustees Training for trustees is a significant issue for the Court.
In the interim, the judiciary will continue to have the discretion to set applications down for special hearings to progress the many applications that are waiting for resolution.
If you wish to appear you should contact the Court and file a Notice of Intention to Appear on Form 5 and serve a copy on the applicant.

If your whanaunga are on the list, and have passed away, you can make an application for succession. Once the Court is satisfied that successors to the original beneficiaries of SILNA lands have been identified as far as possible, a meeting of successors will be called for the relevant block.
