Former Chief Māori Land Court Judge, who then became a
Justice of the High Court, ET Durie provided the following analyses of the nature of Māori rights to land;
Maori see themselves not as masters of the environment but as
members of it.
After further consultation, the rescheduled dates are as follows:

This direction is issued pursuant to rule 3.8(1)(b) Māori Land Court Rules 2011 and
a copy is to be sent to the ChiefJudge, the Chief Registrar and the Registrar of the
Waiariki District Registry of the Court.
Justice Joe Williams himself was the ChiefJudge of the Maori Land Court before his appointment to the higher courts, and indeed the ChiefJudge before him, the Honourable Sir Edward Taihakurei Durie, is also an alumnus.
