HĀWEA/WĀNAKA SILNA WORKING LIST OF POTENTIAL OWNERS AS AT 9 SEPTEMBER 2021 The Māori Land Court has released an updated working list of potential owners entitled to the Hāwea/Wānaka Substitute Land (Section 2 of 5 Block XIV Lower Wanaka Survey District) under Section 15 of the Ngāi Tahu Deed of Settlement 1997.
The shares in the newly amalgamated block are determined by the value of the shares in each block before they are merged.
In 2017 an article in Te Karaka , Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu’s on-line magazine, noted: While work is almost complete on identifying successors for the Hāwea-Wānaka block, minimal mahi has been done for the Toitoi block and almost nothing for the remaining two blocks.

The Māori Land Court via its Māori Land Online website can now physically locate the blocks. GIS maps exist which confirm the location of the blocks.

There are shareholdings in that block fractionated down to 4,000ths. The block itself is only about 5 hectares in size.
