The Māori Trustee is appointed, in many cases, to act as a responsible trustee to manage Māori freehold land and other assets on behalf of the beneficial owners.
A further complication is that section 338(12) provides that the trusteesof a Māori reservation may, with the consent of the Court, grant a lease or occupation licence of a reservation for a term not exceeding 14 years (including any term or terms of renewal).
Information from Māori Land Online also provides the names of various trusteesof blocks in which we hold interests and contact has been made with some of them.
