The Act now allows for the Māori Land Court to remove a
trustee if it is satisfied that they have lost the capacity to
perform their functions as a trustee, or that their removal is
desirable for the proper execution of the trust (for example
because they repeatedly refuse or fail to act as a trustee, they
become an undischarged bank...

Trusts should be reviewed regularly to ensure they are operating according to the trust order and that the trustees are working to a high standard.
These changes include making it easier for landowners to establish Māori incorporations,
and provisions for removing a trustee or a member of a committee of management of an
incorporation have been updated.

addressing:
24.1 Whether they have the necessary experience to be appointed; and
24.2 Whether any of the existing estimates as approved will need to change.
Since 1993 there has only been a trickle of Māori freehold land that has changed to European title. To achieve this change is possible only in particular circumstances and strict rules apply.
