The Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025
introduces new provisions that allow owners of Māoriland
and water service providers to appeal to the MāoriLand
Court over decisions about access to Māoriland for water
infrastructure.
In August 2020, the Government passed targeted
changes to Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993 to simplify
the legal processes for owning, occupying and using
Māoriland.
In your application you’ll need to provide:
written consents of the trustees
written consents of the beneficiaries
evidence of a properly notified meeting(s) held to terminate the trust, and
a schedule of land to be removed from the trust and to who those shares will be transferred
