Remember to be considerate of your whānau relationships during mediation. Give some thought to what you do and/or say to maintain whānau relationships during mediation.

 There are three key factors you’ll need to consider if you and your whānau want to occupy or build on your land.

Many landowner journeys begin when a whānau member passes away and their land interests or shares in an incorporation are transferred to their whānau members.

Grounds for application: I am a party to a contract or arrangement relating to the proposed transfer; or I am the transferor/donor of the land or interest; or I am a trustee for a person entitled to the land or interest 3. Consultation with whānau I have consulted with my immediate whānau about this application; and There are no objections from my whānau 4.

There are many ways Māori connect with and utilise whenua, depending on the economic, social, and cultural aspirations of the whānau for the whenua. The Māori Land Court, alongside our partner agencies, are here to support you and your whānau throughout your whenua journey.
