• Can’t find an owner? Try all the different names they might be known by including
nicknames, married names, adopted, whāngai Māori names, and names that may have
been spelt incorrectly.
It is recommended to search with at least the name or ID criteria entered in. Using type,
district, or state without a name or ID will find over 500 search results.
Finding out if you have entitlement for
succession
If a family member has died and you believe they may have
owned interests in Māori land to which you may be entitled
to succeed, you can find out about those interests by:
• searching the Māori Land Online database.
Use this form to request a confirmed search of interests that may be held in the name of any deceased
person who may have interests in Māori Freehold Land.
