In this particular instance the Court probably did not vest the block in a ‘tribe by name’ because the chiefs seeking title did not ask it to, but merely presented the Court with a list of ten grantees, which Judge Monro did not investigate further. (In fact all the minutes record is the list of names). Examples of the Court vesting a block in a ‘tribe by name’ are very difficult to find.
