The alienee is not a member of the preferrred classes of alienees and a first right of refusal is to be given to the
preferred classes of alienees in accordance with rule 11.5.

Toitū te Whenua hold information about historical transfers, surveying titles, or land that has been converted to general land.
The LAWASIA Council consists of presidents or other office-bearers of the peak legal bodies of each member country. The LAWASIA president, vice presidents and executive committee members are elected by the Council from amongst its members.
Explanatory Notes
Where undivided interests or shares in Māori land are to be exchanged the Court has no power to make an order
unless the person receiving the shares in a block is either -
(i) a child or remoter issue of the owner in that block of the shares to be exchanged, or
(ii) a descendant of any former owner who is or was a member of the hapū associated with the land, or
(iii) an owner in that land who is a member of the hapū associated with the land, or
(iv) a trustee...
That sale cannot proceed unless the owners give to the preferred classes of alienees a right
of first refusal.
Any member of the preferred class of alienees who wishes to be considered by the owners as
a prospective purchaser of the land must give written notice of his or her intention to pursue
the right of refusal at the hearing of the application.
