Judge Wara has broad experience in both the Waitangi Tribunal and the Māori Land Court, acting for whānau, hapū and iwi. Judge Wara is also a member of the Waitangi Tribunal.
This means issues of a personal and sensitive nature to whānau may be discussed in a public court hearing.
I know that presently there are difficulties for members of whānau trusts in relation to grants for education or to kaumatua, and in voting at meetings.
Much has been achieved by the project for Māori land owners, their whanau and hapu by giving greater certainty to title issues.
