Considerations for each type of application
LANDOWNERS’ MEETINGS
Landowners should hold a meeting to discuss any application
affecting the land.
The process to do this is different from other
Māori Land Court application processes.
Landowners and other interested parties, if
appropriate, should hold a meeting to decide
to set aside land as a Māori reservation.
This application will require the Māori
Land Court staff to search the record for
you. This process is known as a Part IV
search and is provided free of charge

BENEFICIAL OWNER
The owner of a beneficial interest in land.
Where land is vested in trustees, the trustees are the
legal owners of the land and they hold it upon trust for the
beneficial owners and they manage that land in
accordance with the trust order set by the Court.
