Currently trustees of Māori land assume all of the duties and obligations of trustees
at general law. This works extremely well. Nevertheless, the Law Commission
recently proposed a new Trusts Act for all trusts which would tidy up any
uncertainties or inconsistencies regarding trustee duties.
