The interests of a child
When the successor is a child at the time
the Māori Land Court makes the succession
order, the Court can also appoint a kaitiaki 19
trustee to act for the child until he or
she reaches 20 years of age or marries,
whichever occurs sooner.
Where a grant of letters of administration 19
or probate 20 has been issued, the executor 21
may apply directly to the Māori incorporation
to transfer the deceased’s shares to the
successors 22.
