Address for service If you do not wish to be heard on the application but you do wish to know what is happening, you must file in the office of the Court that the application was filed or made in a notice giving the address of a place in New Zealand at which documents may be left for you.

You can also request the appointment of someone who is not on the published list to hear your dispute. Any requests to appoint a mediator from beyond the list must be approved by the Director of the Māori Land Court before they can proceed.

1 Māori Land Update – Ngā Āhuatanga o te whenua June 2025 | Hune 2025 This update is issued by the Office of the Chief Registrar, Māori Land Court | Te Kooti Whenua Māori to provide key statistics on Māori land, including the number and total area of Māori Customary Land (MCL) and Māori Freehold Land (MFL) blocks, and how many of these are managed by trusts or incorporations versus those that are not.
