The Māori Land Court is conducting an
inquiry to establish the successors to SILNA lands pursuant to Section 29, Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993 in accordance
with an application filled by the Minister of Māori Affairs, currently under application A20180009373.
On the discretion to appoint trustees, that Court stated that ordinarily the Māori Land Court would give substantial weight to the views of the owners.
Benefits beyond Registration First The project provided an opportunity to clean up Māori Land titles providing more certainty for owners keen to develop their lands, including improving their access to loan finance.
The hope is that you can come to a decision about how to move forward without legal involvement. This service is voluntary, so everyone involved in the dispute must all agree to take part.
