Historically, most succession applications were heard by a
Māori Land Court judge.
Now, if your succession application is assessed to be ‘simple
and uncontested’, then it can be decided by a Māori Land
Court registrar without a court sitting (unless you request to
be heard by a judge in a court sitting).
You may use this document to request a waiver, reduction, or refund of the fee prescribed for an application before
the Māori Land Court or Māori Appellate Court under the Māori Land Court Fees Regulations 2013.
For example, if your email is “māorilandcourt123@justice.govt.nz”, then Pātaka Whenua will pick
your Username as “māorilandcourt123”.
3.4 You can change your “Username” if you prefer a different one.
The main priorities for the Court now are first, to remedy errors in the lists, using s 86 of TTWMA, and second, to update the list of successors based on previous and new evidence, the latter of which requires hearings to be held so evidence can be heard.
HOW TO FILE AND COMPLETE THIS APPLICATION FORM

Office of the Chief Registrar;
