In practice, when the engaged owners wish to progress their land they simply
constitute an ahuwhenuatrust. This has been well understood by Māori land
owners.
Trustees may act by
majority pursuant to section 227 of the Act.
1.11 Each Trustee must use reasonable endeavours to:
(a) provide each ahuwhenuatrust or Māori incorporation in which the Trust holds
interests with current contact details for the Trust; and
(b) procure that any dividends or other benefits to which the Trust is entitled from
