Whenua Māori held by a Māorilandtrust
3. Where the title to the land is vested in a Māorilandtrust (e.g. an Ahu Whenua Trust or a
Whānau Trust) the trustees can approve a mortgage against the land subject to any
restrictions in the trustorder (ss 147 and 150A of the Act)
What do I need to do?
Contact your trust about an occupation license or lease.
Before applying to the MāoriLandCourt for an occupation

land, and if applicable, from trustees or the management
committee of the Māori incorporation over the land.
